Multi Level Marketing (MLM) has been
around for decades way before the birth of internet. It is also known
as Network Marketing or Referral Marketing which is a marketing
strategy where members recruit other members to become their downline
and at the same time encourages them to do the same to recruit others
to become their downline and the cycle repeats itself continuously.
There will normally be a form of membership fee and/or buying of the
company’s products or services required to join as a member. The idea
of building your network is to leverage from the strength of your
downlines to generate the income you earn either through the referrals
of membership fees or the sales of the company’s products or services.
Depending on the compensation plan of the MLMs which are usually two or
more levels deep, you can earn the overriding commissions from your
downlines’ sales according to the number of levels designed in the
compensation plan. Your success depends on building your network which
will generate passive income earned from the continuous consumption or
sales of the products or services from your downlines. Now with the
advent of internet, you are able to automate your business in reaching
more people globally to build your network.
The truth about MLM is that not many will be successful as some members
will eventually drop off if they are unable to successfully recruit new
members after a while of trying.
Beware of some MLMs that operate as pyramid schemes which are illegal
in most countries and will eventually fail where only the top few
members in the pyramid benefit at the expense of the recruitment of new
members. Normally, to detect whether it may be a pyramid scheme would
be if the members earn their income primarily from money received from
the membership fee from new recruits alone and not from the sale of the
products or services. Therefore, you need to find out more about the
MLMs organization history, their products or services and compensation
plans before deciding whether is it worthwhile for you to join and
build your network. Only if the products or services offered are good,
then it will more likely to sustain where everyone in the organization
makes good passive income through continuous consumption or usage.
